Does missed call text back work for septic and land clearing companies?
Yes, for the calls you cannot pick up. When a call goes unanswered, the caller gets a short text from your business a minute or two later, so they know the call was seen and they have an easy way to say what they need without dialing the next company. It suits crews who spend the day in a pit, under a truck or behind a mulcher. It does not replace calling people back; it buys you the time to do it.

How it works
- Someone calls your business number and nobody picks up.
- The system notices the missed call and sends a text from your business number, asking what they need.
- The caller replies by text, often with the details you would have asked for anyway.
- You get an alert on your phone with their number and what they wrote, so you can call back ready.
Nothing about it pretends to be a person answering the phone. It is a quick, honest note that says you saw the call and will get back to them.
Why it fits septic and land clearing work
A septic customer with a backed up tank is calling down a list, and the first company that responds usually gets the job. A land buyer asking for a clearing quote is often calling several crews in the same afternoon. In both cases, the caller does not wait long, and plenty of people hang up rather than leave a voicemail.
Meanwhile, you are on equipment, in a hole or on a job site with the engine running. You cannot answer every call, and you should not have to. A text that goes out on its own keeps the caller from moving on while you finish what you are doing.
Where it does not help
- Landlines. A caller on a landline cannot receive the text, so those calls still need a call back.
- No call back. If nobody follows up, the text only delays the disappointment. The alert is there so you can call back quickly.
- Spam and robocalls. They get a text too. That costs little, but it is worth knowing.
- Unregistered numbers. In the United States, business texting from a local number has to be registered with the phone carriers, or texts can be blocked. Any setup worth paying for handles that.
What a good first text says
Short, from your business name, and ending in a question. For example: “Sorry we missed your call, this is (your company name). What can we help with? We will call you back shortly.” A question invites a reply, and the reply tells you whether it is an emergency or a quote that can wait an hour.
Avoid long messages, links and anything that sounds like a sales pitch. The caller wanted to talk to a person, so the text should sound like one wrote it.
How Auspero sets it up
Missed call text back is included in every Auspero package. When you miss a call, the caller gets a text from your business within two minutes, and you get the details on your phone. On the Growth package, a follow up text also goes out when a lead stops replying. The free check includes a test call to your business, so you see exactly what a caller experiences today.
FAQ
Text back questions.
No. When you miss a call, the customer gets a text from your business within two minutes asking what they need, and you get the details on your phone so you can call back.
You still have their number and the time they called, so you can call them back. On the Growth package, a follow up text goes out when a lead stops replying.
Replying by text to someone who just called about their own request is common practice, but business texting in the United States has rules: the number must be registered with the carriers and people must be able to reply STOP to opt out. This is general information, not legal advice.
